SNØSNUTE

Team Snøsnute is a small, dedicated long-distance sled dog kennel founded in 2018 by mushers Alexander Johansson and Tuuli-Maria Ristilä. Our mission is to train and compete with happy, healthy dogs—prioritizing animal welfare, thoughtful training and deep respect for each individual in our pack.

Our story began in northeastern Norway, where we met while working as handlers and guides at a tourism kennel. It was there that our shared passion for mushing took root and sparked the dream of building a team of our own.

That dream began with Wotan, our first Alaskan husky. Just a year old and new to sledding when he joined us, Wotan grew into a confident leader and has since become the foundation of our kennel—guiding both the team and the younger dogs with calm experience.

Today, we live in a small village in northern Sweden, surrounded by forest and a large lake—an ideal base for our life with dogs. Our family includes 32 Alaskan huskies and a golden retriever mix named Loki.

At Team Snøsnute, we aim to share the beauty of this sport while upholding the highest standards of care. Working with dogs requires attentiveness, knowledge, and heart—qualities we bring to every mile on the trail.
