Our story

Who we are?

Location

Överkalix, Swedish Lapland

Dogs

30 Alaskan huskies and a Golden retriever mix.

If you ask us, we are quite the ordinary and boring couple spending most of our time with our dogs. After all, we have been infected by the so-called “mushing virus” – there’s no cure for that!

We absolutely love this lifestyle, even though it can occasionally be hard and demanding, but it’s also something that gives you more back than you ever can give to it.

What we do

We mush, take care of the dogs and cuddle.

Most of our time goes into training and preparing our dogs for long distance sled dog races. Our training season is from August until May, starting training with the quad on small forest roads and continuing on by sled as soon as we have enough snow and the lake’s properly frozen.

The competitions are during winter, first ones in January and the last ones being sometime during April. Right now we haven’t been doing any dry land competitions, but who knows, maybe one day!

During summer and warmer periods, we have a big free running pen for activating the dogs. Living by a lake allows us to take the dogs for a swim either for exercise or to cool down, the forests around us to go hiking and spend a night outside the kennel.

Mushing and life with sled dogs is much more than that. It’s feeding, cleaning the pens and dog care – cutting claws, brushing the coat, health checks etc. It’s understanding everyone as individuals and their needs, alone time with each just cuddling, playing or simply being.

There’s a certain serenity in that. The love our dogs give us is so pure, with the power to heal even the most broken soul.

Our vision

Is to educate, inspire and learn.

We aim to have happy dogs, we do our best to ensure good animal welfare. We provide them only the best feed, good quality equipment and care (physiotherapy, massage, veterinary visits etc), along with a thoroughly planned training program for each season.

Our goal is to compete in the longest sled dog races in the world and finish with a team of energetic dogs – no matter the placement. Each competition for us is an adventure, a possibility to learn something new every time – about us, dogs, mushing.

Most importantly, our vision is to live our dream with our dogs, enjoying the time we get to spend together and learn, cuddle and goof around.

We are one big family where no one is forgotten.

Our values

Our dogs are our family, and their wellbeing matters the most.

Each of the dogs are unique and have amazing personalities. Treating them as individuals allows us to give everyone what they require and want the most, while fitting their needs and characteristics together with the others.

We aim to have a calm, well-behaved kennel with a minimal amount of stress and to breed healthy, social puppies who are born to run.
