Hi, happy to see you taking a peek into our life with sled dogs!
I won’t promise any amount of posts, due to this lifestyle being somehow hectic and time consuming, but I’ll try to get in an update every now and then on how it’s all going for us during winter.
This winter season we’ll be moving to Rovaniemi with our dogs and we’ll be driving tours in the Santa Village, so if anyone’s around there we’d be happy if you stop by to say hi – at least to the dogs! I’m really looking forward to working with our dogs again, and meeting other amazing mushers and guides who share the same interest.
I am also going to participate in one race in January, Lapland Quest in Finland. It is a LDL10 250km race, meaning it’s a race driven with a team of 10 dogs and the distance being 250 kilometers (ca 155 miles). As my previous qualification race is out of date and I didn’t finish the Finnmark race last season, I need to qualify for the longer races again, so this will be my qualification race.
That means, my main goal is to cross the finish line. But as ambitious I am, and want to do the best I can by the dogs, I have another (more important) goal – to finish with all 10 dogs happy and in good shape. So, I won’t really be competing against the other mushers, which for me as a competitive person will be a bit of a challenge I guess. Probably need to prep my handler to keep me on track!
We are more than happy to answer any questions, so feel free to send us a DM on our social media pages! If there’s any topic you’d like us to post about, let us know and we’ll write it down on our post list!
Have an amazing winter!
love, Tuuli
